Commodity vs. Delivery: What You Can Actually Reprice
Any honest savings estimate starts by separating the part of your bill you can change from the part you can't.

The repriceable third
On a typical commercial invoice, the commodity (energy) charge is roughly a third of the total. That's the only part a competitive retailer can change.
The regulated remainder
Transmission and distribution โ the poles, wires, pipes and infrastructure โ are regulated and pass through identically no matter who your retailer is. Together they often make up about half the bill.
Why this matters for savings claims
A credible estimate reprices only the commodity portion. Anyone promising to cut your whole bill by a large percentage is either misunderstanding the structure or overpromising.
Our calculator applies savings only to the commodity charge, so the number you see is the number you can actually influence.
